My Soapbox for SBD Thread - June 8

"Each day offers the promise of new possibilities. Rise confidently and embrace them wholeheartedly. They hold great power."

(the following is just my opinion and is in no way shape or form a judgement, nor is it meant to bring anyone down... it's sort of a pep talk that I started typing and couldn't stop, if it offends anyone - my apologies ahead of time.)
We often think of ourselves as less or unworthy if we make mistakes. I am not sure if it is something that we have inbred in us or if it's part of our upbringing, or even if it us many of us just being perfectionists and wanting to do it right all the time... EVERY time.
We often hold ourselves to bars that are set high, if we didn't, there would be no goals and there wouldn't be much to celebrate since we wouldn't have anything to measure ourselves by. But why does it have to be in a quantity? Laps ran, calories counted, pounds lost, inches lost. Numbers may signify quantity, but quantity is never the same as quality.
I have seen some things in the threads today that have started me down this path. Mostly the the negative comments - backhanded compliments or otherwise. Yeah, your peers and family may only see numbers but it's because you are slowly changing before their eyes and they cannot see the "quality" things that have changed. Your better moods, your blood chemistry, your ability to walk a few more stairs without being winded. THESE are the things that should help you in knowing that you are succeeding. Your friendships that you have developed to help you along your way, the choices you make, not for them, but for you.
These are the opportunities that you need to consider when some of those bad times roll around. Be proud that you are still making better choices than you did before SB and that one mistake, one bad day or even one boardwalk for a month or two will not deter you from your goal for very long. You have the opportunity to continue it forward, be it the next meal, the next day or the next paycheck that you have to afford the foods you want to eat.
Each and everyone of us is worth this lifestyle change... REGARDLESS of what others may say or think. As long as you feel better inside and feel better about yourself as you improve your health... THAT is the goal.
That's my soapbox for this Sunday and brand new week.
Have a great Sunday!
